A poem about social networking
Social networking
I’d grow wiser if I watched
webcasts of the Dalai Lama.
But, no way I’m leaving Twitter:
I’m being followed by Obama.
What am I doing?
Do you really care to know?
I’m eating lemon pie
And dancing to “Jai, Ho!”
How’d you stumble upon me?
All these passwords; I’m confused.
They own all my content?
We’re the Users and the used.
Now, I won’t be a hypocrite;
I Tweet my time away,
change my status often;
check my blog stats every day.
But if people gave a dollar
for every single Tweet,
homes could be built
and cancer could be beat.
I like to be connected.
I’m not saying that it’s wrong.
But how’d we switch from
talking to texting all day long?
No, I don’t need to know
who your peeps are porkin’
but, no way I’m leaving Facebook:
I’m friends with Aaron Sorkin.

I told you privately and I’m repeating it here. It has a perfect balance of serious and humor. The last 3 verses just work so well together after being set up by the first 4.
Larry
Love it! lol
Yup, this is great and i echo Larry’s every word (well, in this context anyway). This morning i saw a blogpost http://constructivegrumpiness.squarespace.com/home/2009/6/9/10-irrational-behaviors-on-twitter-thatd-make-you-look-crazy.html making the same point but rather less entertainingly (though i love some of their list, esp their point 4).
That is supercool.
Thanks so much for the visit and the comment. I love writing about what’s real and what’s happening right now. Should
be interesting to see what happens with social networking in the next year or so.
Loving it Heather! Its always fun to check in on your life
You me and Twitter. I love it!
